Bryce Canyon NP Horse Reservations Moving to Recreation.Gov

Starting April 1, you’ll be able to book your Bryce Canyon private horse reservations online through Recreation.gov, transitioning away from the old method of calling or emailing park staff during business hours. For details on booking both private and wrangler-led horse and mule rides, check out go.nps.gov/BryceHorse.

Private Horse Reservations

You can schedule private stock rides for up to 10 riders every half hour from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., from May through October. This, of course, depends on the weather and trail conditions. Mark your calendars! Reservations for the whole season open on April 1 at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time annually. A nominal $1 processing fee for each reservation will support the Recreation.gov services.

For Perspective…an Improved Process

Park Superintendent Jim Ireland shared, “This update brings our private horse rides in line with other digital booking services offered on Recreation.gov. [This] provides private stock owners with a seamless way to plan their visits. With the move to an online reservation system, you can now easily check available slots and book your ride anytime, anywhere.”

Previously, since 2015, securing a spot for your private stock required direct contact with park staff within working hours. This often required multiple attempts to confirm a booking. This could lead to delays, especially if staff were busy.

The demand for private stock rides has seen a significant rise since 2015, from 124 reservations in 33 groups to 923 in 207 groups in 2023, showing nearly a 650% increase. The new online booking system is a response to efficiently cater to this growing interest.
